St. Augustine is strategically located in northeast Florida. While the life in St. Augustine is somewhat relax, big city excitement is not too far away. Jacksonville [with the Federal Courthouse] and its malls, theaters and nightclubs is less than one hour from St. Augustine. Orlando with all of its tourist destinations is about two hours drive. Daytona Beach and it world-famous racetrack is about one hour drive. Palatka and its famous blue crabs in the St. Johns River is about thirty minute drive. The diversity of living areas in St. Johns County covers everything from oceanfront condominium complexes to new single-family patio homes located a block or two |
from the ocean. At the high end of the scale, gated communities offer homes for the more discerning individuals. Nearly every part of St. Augustine can be reached within ten minutes by automobile. The school system in St. Johns County has constantly earned high grades, a reason why many people who work in Jacksonville commute from St. Augustine. St. Augustine also enjoys a low crime rate, award-winning restaurants, famous golf courses, including World Golf Village and is very close to The Players Championship at Sawgrass. St. Johns County has beautiful beaches and plenty of water sports, ranging from parasailing to deep-sea fishing. St. Augustine has a nationally recognized hospital with a very well equipped emergency room and a very strong open-heart surgery program. Jacksonville counts with a trauma center and several excellent hospitals. |
